Independence Day

Independence Day

The way the USA and Costa Rica celebrate the independence, is different but at the same time, it’s the same. Let me explain it to you. Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain on July 4, in 1776. While in Costa Rica was on September 15, in 1821.Which commemorates the independence of the entire Central America from Spanish rules.
Following the independence, the first constitution of Costa Rica was soon adopted. This further led to the celebration of the first elections held in December, 1821. The Independence Day of Costa Rica is declared an official national holiday in the country. As it is in the United States of America.
Independence in the USA is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, Baseball games, families getting together, political speeches, and ceremonies. Parades are often on the morning, while fireworks displays in the evening at such places as: parks, fairgrounds and town squares.
Costa Ricans celebrate the Independence Day by going to the parades in their community the whole day. Watching how their kids march and listening to school’s bands playing. In the morning, you can listen to the speech of the president of Costa Rica. You will also see flags everywhere hanging. Decorations like: balloons, clothes, and streamers are colored red, blue, and white, the colors of the Flag. Also, you can see people dancing the traditional dance or listening to folk music.
The difference of how the USA and Costa Rica celebrate the Independence Day is not so different, but still I think that USA celebrates even bigger than it is here in Costa Rica. Because we don’t have the barbecues, picnics, fair, and carnivals.
